Welcome to Year 3.
3L this year are going to have so much fun and learn lots. I am aiming to teach a number of lessons outside in our wonderful school grounds.
I am helped this year by Ms Attoe as our Teaching Assistant. Mrs Hepburn and Mrs Merlin will be in class assisting as well. Mrs Hutchings and Miss Perkins will be teaching in the class as well.
Communication will again be via Class Dojo as in previous years. Any questions or concerns please do contact me.

Learning in Term 1
Maths - Place Value and Number, Addition and Subtraction, Fractions and Shape. We will also continue to learn times tables 2,5,10,3,4,8.
English - Phonics, Spelling and Grammar - As in previous years we split into different groups according to assessments.
- Writing - Our main book will be Roald Dahl's Fantastic Mr Fox and we will be learning to write character and setting descriptions, narratives and diary entries.
- Reading - Children will be heard read in school but it is so important that they are also heard at home. We will send home a levelled reading book of their choice and a library book to be shared at home. It has also been shown that being read to is really important for children's development in this area. We will also be having reading skills lessons using a wide range of texts.
PE and Swimming are on Mondays so please send your child into school in their PE kit. Half the class must bring in their swimming kit as well. Look on Class Dojo to see whether your child is swimming this term.

Homework - Homework will be set each Friday to be completed by Thursday and will include times tables practise, spellings and reading at least 3 times a week.
