Instead of taking part in the Global Climate Strike we decided to take action in the form of the litter pick.
In conjunction with Campaign to Protect Rural England we took part in their 'Green Clean'.
Lots of children scoured the area for discarded rubbish; the children wore gloves and were only allowed to pick up plastic and paper and the adults used litter pick sticks to collect bottles and cans.
At the end of the day the contents were documented and sent off to CPRE so that they can use them as evidence to support litter initiatives.
The current initiative is to persuade the Government to introduce a bottle drop system which will reduce the amount of plastic bottles polluting our environment.
This action has sparked lots of discussions about what we can do at Christ Church to be more environmentally friendly. If you have any ideas, please let us know and pass suggestions on to Mrs Avery.
