Germinating seeds and bulbs

In Year 2 we have been germinating seeds and bulbs as part of our Science topic on Plants. We also carried out an experiment on 4 sunflower seeds. The pot that has access to water and sunlight has a strong shoot but pots without access to water have no shoots as the seeds did not germinate. Some children were surprised to see the seed that had access to water but not sunlight did germinate and grow tall shoots. However, as seen in the photograph, the children realised it doesn't look healthy due to lack of sunlight. 

We also grew some fast growing seeds such as radish, mustard and cress so we could taste them in our DT lessons baased on Healthy eating.
