Black History Month-Mary Seacole

As part of our Black History Months celebrations, Sea Lion's class learnt about the  admirable life and struggles of Mary Seacole. We heard how she faced racial prejudice yet still overcame these obstacles to become a beloved humanitarian and inspiration to others. After hearing her story the children role played key periods in her life from travelling to Crimea to set up a hospital, to arriving home penniless and being rejected by the War Office to support the Nursing Unit.
