2J Exploring habitats around the school
As part of our year round science learning, we ventured outside to explore habitats around the school grounds. We leant what a habitat is and the difference between a habitat and a micro-habitat. Have a look at the children sketching, observing and recording the conditions within each habitat. They also used data loggers to record accurate measures of the ambient temperature.
The children were able to recognise signs that we are in (late) Autumn through observing some of the trees losing their leaves. They also noted a lack of flowers and flying insects. They predicted that there will be more flowers, fruits and insects in spring and summer when there is more food to eat in these habitats.
