1A science - week 2
4th May 2022
This week we were identifying and describing the roots of a plant. We used magnifying glasses to look really closely. We tried to describe the roots. We thought they: are a bit lighter than our skin colour, are a bit brown/peach colour, look like a sort of comb, look a bit like spaghetti, look a bit carrot shaped. Some of us tried to pull up a plant from the ground but it was really tricky; the plant was 'stuck' in the ground. Mrs Avery used a garden fork to dig up the plant and we could see that the roots did a really good job of keeping the plant in the ground. We also found out that the roots help to tranport water to the rest of the plant.
