Courageous Advocacy
We can change the world!
Within Christ Church CEP Academy, our aim is to create a culture of justice and responsibility. A community where the children are given the time to reflect and a community that gives them a voice that is heard. We believe that each child can flourish through opportunities to thrive and to prioritise the needs of the marginalised through their own choices and decisions to support the most vulnerable in our community. "A vision for education centred on dignity and respect enables flourishing children to learn from and grow alongside others who are different from themselves in good schools which celebrate equity, diversity, belonging, inclusion and justice at
every opportunity." (Our hope for a Flourishing School System, pg9)
We have various ways and opportunities for children to share their reflections, thoughts and big questions, so that they remain at the heart of the decision making and become agents of change for our community.
Through our Friday prayer club, the children expressed their concern over the homelessness within our own community and the injustice of the poverty, in which is seen outside our own school gates.
Having listened to the children's voices, we invited The Rainbow Centre in to lead a Worship and to speak to children of what their Christian organisation does to support our local community. Our then Year 6's took on the responsibility of raising money for The Rainbow Centre. They organised plant sales, cake sales and the highlight of events, pupils V staff football match.
The Rainbow Centre remains a huge part of the children's prayers and thoughts, as each year we have continued on the football match.
