Music in Term 1

23rd Oct 2017

We have again been busy musically throughout term 1. Choir and Hand Bell clubs have restarted and the children have all been working hard. Both clubs performed at the Harvest service in Holy Trinity Church and will be taking part in the Youth Festival of Remembrance on Saturday 11th November at the Leas Cliff Hall. They will also be performing at many other events throughout the year. New members (KS2) are always welcome.

Some of our musicians took part in a Build a Band Day at Harvey Grammar School, where they had the opportunity, alongside children from other schools, to perform to parents and invited guests.

All children in KS2 have been given their own individual log-in details to access the Charanga (Kent Interactive Music) website so that they can study further at home. Years 3 and 4 are learning to play the Recorder and Year 5 the Ukulele. Year 6 will have the opportunity to play a variety of instruments. Please ask Mrs Driscoll if you require any further information.

Mr Driscoll has been working with the children in year 4 demonstrating brass instruments, giving them all a chance to try. Some of them are now learning to play some of these instruments and all have the opportunity to join Shepway Brass Academy which runs in the Community Building Hall on a Saturday morning (term times). Please see Mr or Mrs Driscoll to find out more.

A busy day was had by all on 13th October and the children were given the opportunity to play drums (either Djembe or Bucket), experiment with sounds and listen to the piano and guitars being played. They also took part in a number of other exciting creative activities throughout the day.
